September Swim Successes
Posted by SBCSA, 28 September 2011
Jim Neitz became the 23rd swimmer to swim from Anacapa to mainland. Jim is now the only person to have had multiple swim successes from a California channel island other than Catalina. Jim has made the Anacapa swim on 3 separate occasions. His latest swim was in a time of 10:43:28 on September 1st. Jim’s observer was Dave Van Mouwerik and the boat captain was Bob Andrieux of the Tuna Thumper.
On September 24th, Alan Morrison became the 24th swimmer to make the water trek from Anacapa to mainland. Alan finished with a strong time of 6:59:38. Alan was observed by Jane Carins and the boat captain was Bob Andrieux of the Tuna Thumper. “Captain Bob” who has never had a swimmer enter the water and not finish the endeavor, has kept his streak alive at least until 2012.
Congratulations swimmers and congratulations Captain Bob.
Annual Awards Banquet in San Pedro
The SBCSA year-end banquet is scheduled for November 5th at 5pm. It is on the same day as the CCSF banquet which will be held during the morning. The CCSF graciously agreed for the banquets to not only be held on the same day, but also in the same city. We believe this is easier for honorees, friends, family, support crew and fellow marathon swimmers who may wish to attend both banquets.
The SBCSA banquet will be held at Acapulco Mexican Cantina in San Pedro, California (750 Sampson Way, San Pedro, CA 90731). The cost is $25 per person.
