James R. Clifford, Sr. is the SBCSA’s newest lifetime member. James, who is 63 years old, swam at the University of Maryland from 1969-73. He did his first open water event 8 years ago when he swam 4 miles in Lake Michigan. James has several marathon swims to his credit including the Bermuda- Round the Sound 10K Swim (2011), Kingdom 10 mile Swim- (2011), Ederle 17.5 mile swim- (2013), Manhattan Island 28 mile Marathon Swim (2014) and the Catalina Channel 20.4 mile swim- (2014) in which he became the oldest to complete to course. Jim is scheduled to do the English Channel in September of 2015.
The SBCSA thanks Jim for his generous contribution and hopes he will attempt another California Channel Island in the near future.
